(The Spread) – The Philadelphia Phillies go for a sweep at the San Diego Padres Sunday afternoon and their 11th consecutive victory at PETCO Park, one of 15 games on today’s full MLB schedule.
The Phillies have dominated the Padres in San Diego in recent memory and this current four-game series has gone no differently. Philadelphia won their third straight in the series Saturday night when a Ryan Howard two-run in the top of the 11th inning was the decisive blow in a 4-2 final.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Phillies a -200 favorite today, while the Padres are a +185 underdog. First pitch is set for 4:05PM EST.
Philadelphia will send ace Roy Halladay (2-1, 2.83 ERA) to the mound, while Wade LeBlanc will make his first start of the season for the Padres. According to the latest trends, Halladay allowed two runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and one walk to earn the victory in his only career start versus San Diego. LeBlanc threw seven shutout innings to pick up a win in his only career start against Philadelphia.
Elsewhere in the National League, two of the top pitchers in baseball go at it at 1:10PM EST when Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez and Florida’s Josh Johnson toe the hill. The Marlins are a -140 favorite, while the over-under is 7.
The Chicago Cubs are a -120 home favorite at 2:20PM EST against the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the over-under is yet to be determined. At 4:05PM EST, the San Francisco Giants are -130 favorites at home versus the Atlanta Braves and the over-under is 7.5.
Shifting to the American League, the Detroit Tigers go for a three-game sweep at home over the Chicago White Sox at 1:05PM EST. The Tigers are -120 favorites and the over-under is 8. Toronto hosts Tampa Bay at 1:07PM EST, where the Blue Jays are -135 favorites and the over-under sits at 8.
The New York Yankees are -125 favorites on the road at the Baltimore Orioles with the start time being 1:35PM EST. The over-under in that one is 9.5.
