Cron puts Twins ahead in 10th
Minnesota prevailed 5-3 in 10 innings Saturday afternoon at Kansas City to improve to 50-26 overall and 26-13 on the road. C.J. Cron drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the 10th. Cron finished the contest 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Miguel Sano ended the game 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jake Cave went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored. Blake Parker struck out two batters in a perfect 10th inning for his 10th save of the season. Michael Pineda will start today for the Twins as he enters with a 4-3 record, 4.76 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 62 strikeouts over 75 2/3 innings pitched.
Dozier drives in two in defeat
Kansas City fell by a 5-3 score in 10 innings Saturday afternoon at home versus Minnesota to drop to 26-51 overall and 15-25 at home. Hunter Dozier helped pace the Royals offensively as he ended the contest 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs. Alex Gordon went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Humberto Arteaga finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Wily Peralta took the loss in relief as he surrendered two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and no walks over one inning. Homer Bailey draws the start for KC today as he comes in with a 6-6 record, 4.82 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 67 strikeouts over 74 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 5-1 in the last six Pineda starts. Minnesota is 11-5 in its last 16 Sunday games.
Kansas City
The Royals are 24-50 in their last 74 games overall. Kansas City is 4-1 in its last five Bailey starts versus the AL Central.
Prediction:
Pineda and Bailey are both entering in good form, but both are inconsistent pitchers throughout their careers. I’m going to say this could be the perfect implosion for both, which would favor the two offenses. Kansas City is without Adalberto Mondesi, but the return of Dozier the last two games provides a power bat against a pitcher who gives up a lot of home runs. I think this contest finds its way to the over as I don’t really trust Pineda, but I especially don’t trust two great starts in a row by Bailey.
