Twins rocked by Texas
The Twins are coming off a series loss in Texas this weekend in which they gave up 32 runs over three games. Minnesota is now 63-73 overall and 24-44 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.44 runs per game while allowing 4.78 per contest.
Kyle Gibson gets the start for the Twins on Monday afternoon. He is 7-11 through 27 starts this year and has a 3.79 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP. Gibson has racked up 153 strikeouts and 68 walks over 164.0 innings of work.
Houston splits with Angels
After losing the first two in the series, the Astros rallied to earn a four-game split with eh Angels this weekend. Houston sits at 84-53 on the season and 37-32 at home. The Astros are scoring 4.95 runs per game this year while giving up 3.34 per contest.
Dallas Keuchel gets the start for the Angels on Monday afternoon. Keuchel is 10-10 this year through 28 starts and he has a 3.58 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. This season, Keuchel has 130 strikeouts and 44 walks over 173.2 innings on the mound.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins have lost seven of Gibson’s last eight Monday starts and they are 2-6 in his last eight road starts.
Houston
The Astros have won 19 of their last 26 against AL Central opponents and nine of Keuchel’s last 12 starts.
Prediction:
Gibson got rocked by the Astros in his first start against them and he has been trending downward this summer, posting a 5.28 ERA in August. Keuchel has been improving after a poor first half of the year. He has a 1.65 ERA in July and a 3.49 ERA in August. I expect him to have a strong start today against an average Minnesota lineup, while his hitters are able to get to the struggling Gibson.
The Pick: Houston Astros -220
