Twins sweep Royals
The Twins earned a needed sweep of the Kansas City Royals at home this past weekend after losing two of three at home to Cleveland a week ago. Minnesota is 52-58 overall and 19-34 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.50 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.65 per contest.
Kyle Gibson gets the start for the Twins this evening. He is making his 23rd start of the year and comes into this game with a 5-8 record, a 3.47 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Gibson has 132 strikeouts and 53 walks over 135 innings of work.
Indians top Angels
The Indians won a weekend series over the Angels at home this weekend and have now won four of their last five. Cleveland comes into this game at 61-49 overall and 34-22 at home. The Indians are putting up 5.09 runs per game this year while giving up 4.18 per contest.
Trevor Bauer makes the start for the Indians tonight. He is making his 24th start of the season and comes into this game with a 10-6 record overall, a 2.34 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Bauer has pitched a total of 153.2 innings on the year and he has 195 strikeouts with 53 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twisn have won Gibson’s last four road starts against the Indians and they have won their last four series openers.
Cleveland
The Indians have won Bauer’s last four starts overall and they have won 67 of their last 99 home games.
Prediction:
Bauer has been great this year, but he has allowed nine runs over 12 innings against the Twins this season. Gibson has been pretty solid in three starts against the Indians, allowing six runs over 18.2 innings. The key for him will be to get some run support. That will be tough against Bauer, but the Twins have proven they can do it. With the odds so lopsided, I am going to side with the underdog Twins, who really need this win.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins +175
