Thames hits 3-run HR in win
Eric Thames helped send Milwaukee to a 5-2 victory at Los Angeles last night as he gave his team a 4-0 lead in the third inning with a 3-run homer. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Christian Yelich extended his hitting streak to 14 games by going 1-for-5 with a double and a run. Travis Shaw was 3-for-4 with a walk plus a run and an RBI. Ryan Braun went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Manny Pina finished 2-for-4 with a triple and a run. Josh Hader earned the win as he threw two scoreless innings, not allowing a hit while striking out three and walking two.
Machado hits second HR with LA
Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday night, his second since being traded to the Dodgers. Machado ended the game 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs. Yasmani Grandal went 1-for-3 with two walks. Kenta Maeda suffered the loss as he allowed four earned runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking three.
Wade Miley (1-1, 2.01 ERA) will start today for the Brewers, while the Dodgers counter with Walker Buehler (4-3, 3.92).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The under is 21-7 in the last 28 Brewers games on Tuesdays. The over is 11-5-1 in the last 17 Brewers road games.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-2 in their last eight home games. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
Prediction:
Miley’s numbers look OK right now, but he has been underwhelming for the last several years. Buehler has had some rough spots as a rookie, but he has plenty of promise and will be in a pitcher’s park today. This bet mostly comes down to believing Miley can’t hold down the potent Los Angeles lineup.
