Brewers drop another
The Brewers have lost three straight and five of their last six after suffering a 4-1 loss to the Cubs on Saturday. The Brewers are 57-55 on the season, 24-31 on the road and 59-49 with the under. Milwaukee has Adrian Houser taking the mound today. He is 4-4 on the season with a 3.99 ERA.
The Brewers were in the mix for most of Saturday, but gave up three runs over the seventh and eighth innings. Gio Gonzalez had an okay start, giving up just one run over 4.1 innings. Junior Guerra took the loss by giving up the game-winning run in his lone inning of work. At the plate, Ryan Braun drove in the lone Milwaukee run while Eric Thames had the lone extra-base hit for the team.
Cubs seek sweep
The Cubs continue their impressive record at home after winning the first two games in this series. Chicago is 59-51 on the season, 38-18 at home and 57-50 with the under. Yu Darvish will be making the start today. He is 3-5 on the season with a 4.46 ERA.
Cole Hamels threw five scoreless innings for the Cubs on Saturday but didn’t factor into the decision. The Chicago bullpen pitched four innings and gave up one run. Rowan Wick earned the victory, his first of the year, while Craig Kimbrel recorded his ninth save of the season. Albert Almora Jr. led the way at the plate. He had three hits with two RBI, including a solo home run. Javier Baez added two hits and a RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 8-3 in their last 11 Sunday games, but just 4-10 in their last 14 against NL Central opponents.
Chicago
The Cubs are just 2-5 in Darvish’s last seven starts, but 21-7 in their last 28 home games against a winning team.
Prediction:
Houser is a reliever that also starts on occasion. He has not done well in his extended outings, but has a 3.86 ERA in three appearances against the Cubs. Darvish has been pretty consistent with his outings, going right around six innings while giving up a few runs. He has yet to face Milwaukee this season, but has a 4.98 ERA at home. Despite that number, I still like the Cubs. They are what they are at home for a reason and the Brewers don’t have a lockdown pitcher on the mound today.
MLB Prediction: Chicago Cubs -145
