Marlins drop three of four at Cubs
Miami lost 4-1 Thursday afternoon at Chicago in the series finale to drop to 10-27 overall and 4-12 on the road. The Marlins cut their deficit to 2-1 in the fourth inning, but could draw no closer in the defeat. Neil Walker finished 1-for-2 with a double and two walks to help pace the offense. Rosell Herrera went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Chad Wallach was 1-for-3 with a walk. Trevor Richards took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Pablo Lopez will start today for Miami as he enters with a 2-4 record, 4.03 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 39 strikeouts over 38 innings.
Mets edged at Padres
New York’s struggles continued Wednesday afternoon as it fell 3-2 at San Diego to fall to 17-21 overall and 10-12 on the road. The Mets surrendered the go-ahead run on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to lead to the defeat. Jeff McNeil helped lead the way offensively as he was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Tomas Nido went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Amed Rosario finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Tyler Bashlor took the loss in relief as he surrendered one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk over inning inning. Zack Wheeler draws the start today as he comes in with a 2-2 record, 4.64 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 47 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 16-39 in their last 55 games overall. Miami is 3-13 in the last 16 starts by Lopez.
New York
The Mets are 1-5 in their last six games overall. New York is 2-5 in its last seven starts by Wheeler.
New York
This has the makings of a get-well series for New York. Wheeler has been inconsistent this season, but is coming off a fantastic 2018 and has a weak offense to match up with tonight. Lopez is also better than his numbers indicate, but I think the Mets can get to him enough to support Wheeler. Go with the hosts tonight as they return home with a win.
