Marlins vs. Diamondbacks Prediction
The Arizona Diamondbacks tied a franchise record for home runs in a game last night. Will the Arizona offense stay red-hot with Zack Greinke on the mound tonight in game two of a series versus the lowly Miami Marlins?

Diamondbacks hit six HRs in rout
Arizona hit the long ball early and often Friday night in a 9-1 home rout against Miami, with Ketel Marte hitting a pair of solo home runs. Daniel Descalso was 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. David Peralta went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jake Lamb finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. John Ryan Murphy was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. All the home runs partially overshadowed a very strong start by Clay Buchholz as he threw seven innings, giving up one earned run on six hits with nine strikeouts and a walk.
Dietrich has three-hit night
There weren’t many highlights for the Marlins last night, but left fielder Derek Dietrich did have a strong night at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 as he drove in the lone run with a single and also drew a walk. J.T. Realmuto had a double in three at-bats. Elieser Hernandez dropped to 0-3 on the season as he gave up five earned runs on five hits over three innings, striking out one and walking two.
Caleb Smith (4-5, 3.51 ERA) will toe the hill for Miami, while D-backs ace Zack Greinke (3-4, 3.65) gets the nod for the home team.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 2-7 in their last nine Saturday games. Miami is 13-32 in its last 45 road games.
Arizona
The D-backs are 5-16 in their last 21 games overall. The under is 6-1-1 in Greinke’s last eight Saturday starts.
Prediction:
Smith has been very impressive in most of his starts this season for Miami, one of the few bright spots on the team. He has a solid strikeout rate and his confidence seems to be growing with each start. But against a red-hot Arizona offense, at least for one game, he is bound to give up two or three runs. At that point, it might be impossible for Miami to generate enough offense against Greinke to keep up. Even though they are struggling, I’m surprised the Diamondbacks aren’t more heavily favored. Take advantage.
