Miami Marlins DFS Spin
Sandy Alcantara will start for the Marlins in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series opener Wednesday versus the Cubs. Like many of the pitchers on the Marlins’ roster, this will be Alcantara’s first career postseason appearance. The 25-year-old right-hander pitched to a strong 3.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 39/15 K/BB ratio over 42 innings (seven starts) during the 2020 regular season. Pablo Lopez and Sixto Sanchez will probably be lined up for Games 2 and 3 of the best-of-three Wild Card Series at Wrigley Field.
Chicago Cubs DFS Spin
Kris Bryant homered for the second consecutive game as the Cubs topped the White Sox in Sunday’s regular season finale. Bryant smashed a grand slam in his return to the Cubs lineup on Saturday, then clobbered a solo shot off of Reynaldo Lopez to get the Cubs on the board in the second inning of this one. He also drove in a run with a ground ball in the seventh inning, finishing the afternoon 1-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI. He concludes a disappointing regular season hitting .206/.293/.351 with four homers and only 11 RBI in 34 games.
Marlins vs. Cubs Betting Prediction
The Cubs are 6-14 in their last 20 home games when facing an opponent with a winning record, are 5-16 in their last 21 games when their opponent allows two or fewer runs in its previous game and they’ve dropped five of their last six postseason games. The Marlins, meanwhile, are 7-2 in their last nine postseason games and have won six of their last eight playoff games as an underdog. This Marlins team has been plucky all season – why not back them in Game 1 to pull off the upset?
