Maeda dominant in win
Kenta Maeda threw six shutout innings Wednesday night in a 2-0 victory at home over San Diego. Maeda gave up three hits, walked none and struck out 12 to pick up the win. Corey Seager helped pace the offense as he went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Maeda helped his own cause as he finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Alex Verdugo was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Rich Hill draws tonight’s start as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 4.20 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 15 innings.
Reds double up Cubs
Cincinnati picked up a 4-2 home win over the Chicago Cubs Thursday night to improve to 20-24 overall and 11-9 at home. Eugenio Suarez helped lead the offense as he was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Nick Senzel and Joey Votto were both 2-for-5 and scored a run. Jose Peraza finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Luis Castillo earned the win as he gave up two earned runs on two hits with six strikeouts and one walk over 5 1/3 innings. Anthony DeSclafani will start tonight as he enters with a 2-1 record, 4.17 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 41 innings.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 21-8 in their last 29 games overall. Los Angeles is 5-0 in the last five Hill road starts.
Cincinnati
The Reds are 5-2 in their last seven games overall. Cincinnati is 5-0 in the last five DeSclafani starts.
Prediction:
Los Angeles is the better team and built for this ballpark with its array of power hitters. DeSclafani has given up seven home runs this season and I’d expect that number to jump by a couple tonight. Hill still has good stuff at his age and should slow down a Reds offense that has been a disappointment so far this season.
