Angels split with Astros
The Angels had some momentum when they won their first two games at Houston this weekend, but then they lost the last two of the series for a split. The Angels are 66-71 overall and 32-37 on the road. Los Angeles is putting up 4.51 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.34 per contest.
Matt Shoemaker gets the start for the Angels today. He hasn’t been on the mound since March 31 due to a forearm injury. His lone start this year saw him go 5.2 innings against Oakland, allowing three runs and four hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Rangers hammer the Twins
The Rangers are coming off a series win over the Twins this weekend, scoring 32 runs over the three games, including 18 on Sunday. Texas is now 60-77 overall and 31-41 at home. The Rangers are scoring 4.54 runs per contest while allowing 5.30 per contest.
Jeffrey Springs gets the start for the Rangers on Monday. He has appeared in 10 games this year in relief appearances. He has pitched 17.2 innings and has 18 strikeouts with nine walks. His ERA is 2.55 and his WHIP is 1.42.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 2-5 in their last seven road games and 3-10 in their last 13 division games.
Texas
The Rangers have won nine of their last 13 in the division and six of their last seven home games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Both pitchers don’t have much starting experience this year. Shoemaker has the talent, but I think he will look shaky after a long injury layoff. Springs is a reliever that is getting a start for the first time today. In the end, I trust the Texas hitting more than the Los Angeles hitting. The Rangers have been able to beat up on bad pitching as of late while the Angels have struggled through stretches.
The Pick: Texas Rangers -105
