Angels end skid

The Angels put an end to their 4-game losing streak on Friday with an 8-4 win at Oakland. Los Angeles is now 38-32 overall and 21-14 on the road. The Angels are putting up 4.56 runs per game at the plate while allowing 4.09 per contest this year.

John Lamb gets the start for the Angels today. He is making his debut for the team and his first MLB start since the 2016 season. He has been pitching well in Triple-A right now, posting a 3.44 ERA with 54 strikeouts in just over 49 innings of work.

Athletics struggling

The Athletics are now on a 4-game losing streak following Fridayโ€™s loss. All four losses have been by at least three runs. Oakland is now 34-36 on the season and 18-20 at home. The Athletics are averaging 4.34 runs per game this season while allowing 4.47 per contest.

Oakland has Sean Manaea on the mound for Saturday. He is 5-6 on the season through 14 starts. He has a 3.49 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. Manaea has pitched a total of 87.2 innings this season and has 64 strikeouts with 18 walks.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Angels are 5-1 in their last six games following a win and 7-1 in their last eight against a team with a losing record. However, they are just 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games.

Oakland

Oakland is 2-12 in their last 14 home games against a team with a winning road record. They have also lost seven straight against a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

I donโ€™t know what to think of this L.A. starter, but I do know that the Oakland hitters are struggling and their pitching hasnโ€™t been good lately. Manaea has a strong WHIP, but he is giving up multiple runs in most starts. Given how poor Oakland has been playing lately, I will go with the Angels in a small upset.

The Pick: Los Angeles Angels +105
