Astros dominant last week
Houston had a very impressive last week, going 6-1 while allowing just 8 runs over the seven games. The Astros are now 16-7 overall and 6-3 at home. Houston is putting up 5.00 runs per game now while allowing a league-best 2.48 per contest.
Gerrit Cole is making the start for Houston. He is 2-0 with through four starts. He has went seven innings in each start and has a 0.96 ERA and 0.75 WHIP. Over his 28 innings of work in 2018, he has 41 strikeouts with six walks.
Angels on a slide
The Angels were off to a great start to the season, but they have lost five of their last six games and scored just 10 runs over the six games. Los Angeles is now 14-8 overall and 9-1 on the road. Los Angeles is now averaging 5.14 runs per game while allowing 4.41 per contest.
Tyler Skaggs gets the start for the Angels tonight. He is 2-1 through four starts with a 3.98 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. He is coming off his worst outing of the year, allowing six runs to the Red Sox in a 9-0 loss. On the season, he has 21 strikeouts and seven walks over 20.1 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels have won their last nine road games and six straight against a right-handed starter. However, they are just 2-9 in their last 11 against winning teams.
Houston
The Astros have won all four starts for Cole this season and they are 25-6 in their last 31 home games. They also have won 14 of their last 19 Monday games.
Prediction:
Cole has to be one of the early candidates for the Cy Young this year. He has been dominant on the mound, with three games where he has struck out at least 11. He also is getting deep into games and saving bullpen arms. Los Angeles is in a bit of a funk right now and I don’t see them lighting up Cole. Skaggs has been good, but I think Houston will manufacture a few runs to get Cole the win.
The Pick: Houston Astros -190
