Angels take opener
The Angels managed to pick up a needed win on Friday by beating the Indians, 7-4 in Cleveland. Los Angeles now is 55-56 overall this year and 26-28 on the road. The Angels are averaging 4.53 runs per game this year while allowing 4.30 per contest.
Felix Pena gets the start for the Indians this evening. He is making his eighth start of the year. Pena carries a 1-2 record with a 5.23 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 32.2 innings this year and has 35 strikeouts with 14 walks.
Indians slip up at home
The Indians can’t seem to really turn it on to the next gear, suffering a loss in Friday’s opener to maintain a level around 10 games over .500. Cleveland is now 59-49 overall and 32-22 at home this season. Cleveland is putting up 5.13 runs per game this year while allowing 4.21 per contest.
Corey Kluber gets the start for the Indians this evening. He is making his 23rd start of the year and comes in with a 13-6 record, a 2.79 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. Kluber has recorded 139 strikeouts and 19 walks over 145.0 innings this season.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 8-20 in their last 28 road games and 2-5 in their last 7 Game 2’s of a series.
Cleveland
The Indians have won 49 of Kluber’s last 71 starts. However, they are just 1-4 in his last five starts at home.
Prediction:
Kluber had been struggling somewhat until going 7.1 innings against the Tigers in his last start. While he still is a little shaky right now, he certainly is the safer option compared to Pena. I don’t love Cleveland with such big odds considering their bats go silent at times as well, but I will take them on the run line and trust that Kluber can shut down the Angels tonight.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-125)
