Altuve, Chirinos lead charge
Houston secure a 4-1 victory Friday night at Washington to trim its World Series deficit to 2-1. The Astros scored a run in the second and third innings to keep control of the contest throughout. Jose Altuve helped lead the way for Houston as he finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Robinson Chirinos ended the game 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Michael Brantley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Josh James registered the win in relief as he struck out the only batter he faced. Roberto Osuna notched the save, giving up one hit with one strikeout in a scoreless frame. Jose Urquidy draws the start tonight after allowing two earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 2 2/3 innings in a 6-4 win over New York in the clinching Game 6 of the ALCS.
Robles drives in lone run
Washington fell by a count of 4-1 at home Friday night in Game 3 of the World Series but still leads the best-of-7, 2-1. The Nationals made it a 2-1 score in the bottom of the fourth inning, but allowed one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings in the defeat. Victor Robles paced the Washington offense as he ended the contest 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI. Adam Eaton was 2-for-4 plus a walk. Ryan Zimmerman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Anibal Sanchez took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and one walk over 5 1/3 innings. Patrick Corbin will take the mound tonight for the Nats after appearing in Game 1 of the World Series in relief in a 5-4 win at Houston as he gave up one hit while striking out one in a scoreless inning of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 7-1 in their last eight interleague games versus a left-handed starter. Houston is 11-4 in its last 15 road games.
Washington
The Nationals are 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games. Washington is 5-1 in the last six Corbin starts.
Prediction:
Washington has the pitching edge tonight although the Astros are typically fantastic against left-handed pitching. Urquidy has shown he has the tools and can be occasionally dominant, while already having thrown some playoff innings should have him ready for this moment. Houston will be quick to go to the bullpen if he struggles, but I think he does a fine job. Bolstered by a few runs of support off Corbin, I think Urquidy and the Houston bullpen settle in and helps even this series back up at 2-2. I’m going with Houston tonight.
