Astros in recovery mode against Brew Crew?
After finally displaying signs of life late in last night’s series opener vs. Milwaukee, can Houston’s offense hit the ground running today?
Online sports book Bovada.lv certainly isn’t holding the Astros’ 1-3 start against them. A.J. Hinch’s club enters the second game of its series at Miller Park as a 1.5-run favorite, with the over/under figure set at 8.5 runs.
Nonetheless, Hinch can’t be pleased with the results of the season’s initial week. His pitchers own an 8.73 ERA, having surrendered 33 runs. Then there’s the lineup, which went scoreless through the first eight innings of Friday’s 6-4 loss to the Brewers.
Through the 42 whiffs and collective malaise, though, a bright spot does exist: Tyler White. Houston’s rookie first baseman boasts a .692 average with two homers and seven RBIs. He and stud shortstop Carlos Correa (three dingers in 17 plate appearances) are doing everything possible to keep the bats afloat by themselves.

Thankfully for baseball enthusiasts in Harris County, Milwaukee starter Wily Peralta seems extremely vulnerable. The veteran righty got knocked around for four earned runs on six hits in a 12-3 defeat to San Francisco on Monday, and he also ended 2015 on a sour note. If Doug Fister can simply post a representative performance for the visitors, they should pull through.
