Astros to hit Brewers with homer barrage?
Aside from some virtuoso offensive efforts courtesy of their sensational sophomore shortstop, the Astros failed to get much out of this week’s season-opening series vs. the Yankees.
Thankfully, Houston’s protracted road trip stands to improve in a hurry. NL Central bottom-feeder Milwaukee will provide the opposition tonight, with an 8:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Miller Park.
Manager A.J. Hinch could merely watch as his pitching staff proceeded to get mauled by New York’s bats. The Astros surrendered a total of 27 runs in dropping two of three to the Bronx Bombers, who seemed extra-motivated to make an example of Ken Giles. Houston’s newest reliever – and the understudy to closer Luke Gregerson – was rocked for homers in back-to-back appearances.
The Brewers don’t exactly possess the same sort of pop, even though Craig Counsell’s gang edged San Francisco on Wednesday. Righty Chase Anderson (6-6 with a 4.30 ERA in 2015) receives the ball for the host team in this one, and his first order of business consists of trying to neutralize Carlos Correa. The second-year superstar jacked three dingers against the Yanks, following up on a rookie campaign in which he slashed .279/.345/.512.

Correa should garner support from Jose Altuve and the rest of the bunch here. Starter Scott Feldman also boasts a very fine track record vs. the Brew Crew, so look for ‘the Stros to begin scaling the AL West standings.
