Keuchel, Astros to blow by Brewers?
Dallas Keuchel wasn’t his usual dominant self in Houston’s season-opening victory over the Yankees. Today in Milwaukee, however, all of the elements will quite literally be in the lefty’s favor.
The 2015 AL Cy Young winner gets the assignment in this afternoon’s Astros-Brewers rubber match, with a 2:10 p.m. ET first pitch in the Badger State. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI prefer the visitors as 1.5-run favorites.
A little less than a week ago, Keuchel overcame brutal conditions in the Bronx to twirl seven innings of two-run ball. He also issued an uncharacteristic four walks. Still, conditions promise to be quite different in the controlled environment of Miller Park.
Last night, Houston held off a late charge from Craig Counsell’s squad to capture a 6-4 triumph. Outfielder Colby Rasmus blasted a pair of home runs, but Tyler White continued to serve as surprising main attraction. The rookie first baseman crushed his third dinger of the campaign, giving him 10 hits and nine RBIs through five contests.

Keuchel must pay similar attention to Scooter Gennett on the Milwaukee side. The fourth-year second baseman boasts three bombs and a .412 average. He’ll try to support righty starter Jimmy Nelson, who suffered a hard-luck loss to San Francisco on Tuesday.
The Astros’ man on the mound hasn’t encountered the Brew Crew since 2012. Nevertheless, he owns a 1.55 ERA while claiming his last six turns. That’s good enough for us to wave our AL West flag in this instance.
