Ozuna walks it off in 10th
St. Louis outfielder Marcell Ozuna hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning last night to send the hosts to a 5-4 victory over the Rockies. He ended the game 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs. Matt Carpenter finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jedd Gyorko went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Dakota Hudson picked up the win as he worked around a hit and a walk while striking out one in an inning of work.
Arenado homers in defeat
Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with a fifth inning grand slam that gave his squad a 4-0 lead at that point. Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4 with a run, while Garrett Hampson was 2-for-3 with a walk. Jake McGee suffered the loss as he gave up the home run and struck out one in one-third of an inning.
Jon Gray (8-7, 5.16 ERA) will start today for Colorado, while Jack Flaherty (4-5, 3,28) gets the call for St. Louis.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The under is 22-7-2 in the last 31 Rockies games on Tuesdays. Colorado is 19-7 in its last 26 games overall.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 35-16 in the last 51 meetings. St. Louis is 1-8 in its last nine games following a win.
Prediction:
St. Louis has not been able to string wins together very often. Following an emotional win last night and the trade of at least Pham (as of the late morning), this is a good recipe for a letdown game. Flaherty should keep them in it, but Gray has been sharp since his brief trip to the minors and has dealt with some bad luck much of the season. Take Colorado to even the series tonight.
