Rockies drop opener
The Rockies dropped the first in this brief two-game series, suffering an 11-6 loss at Houston last night. Colorado is 52-61 on the season, 23-34 on the road and 55-53 with the over. Peter Lambert gets the start for the Rockies today. He is 2-2 on the year with a 5.71 ERA.
The Rockies trailed the entire game against Houston, as their pitching couldn’t slow down Houston. German Marquez gave up five runs over five innings on eight hits. He didn’t take the loss though, that went to Chi Chi Gonzalez, who gave up two runs without recording an out in relief of Marquez. At the plate, Charlie Blackmon hit his 23rd home run of the season on a solo shot while Raimel Tapia had a three-run home run.
Astros win fifth straight
Houston won its fifth straight game on Tuesday, picking up an 11-6 win at home over the Rockies. The Astros are now 74-40 on the season, 42-15 at home and 61-48 with the under. Gerrit Cole is getting the start today. He is 13-5 on the season with a 2.87 ERA.
Zack Greinke made his Houston debut last night and picked up the win. He wasn’t great, allowing five runs over six innings with just two strikeouts, but his hitters backed him up. The Astros had four home runs in the win. Yuli Gurriel had two dingers to lead the way while Carlos Correa and Yordan Alvarez each went yard. Correa and Gurriel each had three RBI in the win.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are just 1-5 in their last six interleague games and 0-5 in their last five Wednesday games.
Houston
The Astros are 5-1 in their last six interleague games and 42-15 in their last 57 home games.
Prediction:
Cole has been locked in the last month, allowing just one run in each of his last four starts, throwing seven innings each time. He has been even more effective in day games, posting a 2.32 ERA over five starts with a 3-0 record. Lambert has given up multiple runs in eight straight starts and only gotten through six innings three times this year. I just don’t see a scenario where Houston doesn’t roll again. Cole should be fine in his start while the Houston hitting will be able to garner a sizable lead on Lambert
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -1.5 (-175)
