Rockies hit the road
After a six-game home stand against the Dodgers and Giants, the Rockies hit the road to face the Astros this week. Colorado is 52-60 on the season, 23-33 on the road and 54-53 with the over. German Marquez takes the mound for Colorado today. He is 10-5 on the year with a 4.68 ERA.
Colorado has one of the league’s best lineups, but one of the league’s worst pitching staffs. The Rockies are averaging 5.34 runs per game while hitting .267 as a team. On the mound, Colorado has a 5.41 team ERA with a 1.46 team WHIP. Nolan Arenado is leading the team with 23 doubles, 24 home runs and 83 RBI. Trevor Story is adding 27 doubles, 25 home runs and 63 RBI.
Greinke debuts for Houston
Houston is coming off four straight wins and the Astros have won seven of their last eight. They are now 73-40 on the season, 41-15 at home and 61-47 with the under. Zack Greinke is making his debut for Houston tonight after the Astros acquired him at the trade deadline. He is 10-4 on the year with a 2.87 ERA.
The Astros have been strong at the plate and the mound this year. Houston averages 5.27 runs per game while batting .271 as a team. On the mound, Houston posts a 3.69 team ERA with a 1.12 team WHIP. Yuli Gurriel is leading the team with 28 doubles, 20 home runs and 69 RBI while Michael Brantley has 31 doubles, 16 home runs and 67 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are just 3-10 in their last 13 road games and 0-5 in their last five Tuesday games.
Houston
The Astros are 23-8 in their last 31 Tuesday games and 23-8 in their last 31 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Greinke makes his debut for Houston tonight, but he gets a team he is familiar with in Colorado. As a member of the Diamondbacks, he had four starts against the Rockies this year and went 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA. That familiarity should help him tonight. Marquez has been pretty good in recent weeks since giving up 11 runs to the Giants. He is able to strikeout a lot of batters while walking few. However, he did give up five runs in six innings earlier to the Astros this year. I like Greinke to put on a show for his new team while Houston’s bats continue to do what they do.
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -210
