Rockies vs. Braves Prediction
A five-game winning streak by the Atlanta Braves came to a close last night in a series-opening home loss to the Colorado Rockies. Is a bet on Atlanta to rebound tonight a smart move to make or will Colorado win for a second straight day?

Dahl homers, drives in three
Rockies outfielder David Dahl charged the offense from the leadoff spot Thursday in a 5-3 victory at the Braves as he was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Nolan Arenado finished 2-for-4 and scored a run. Seunghwan Oh registered the win in relief as he threw a spotless eighth inning. Wade Davis earned his 33rd save of the season as he gave up one hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
Suzuki provides hot bat in loss
Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki ended the night 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two runs in Thursday’s defeat. Dansby Swanson was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Julio Teheran helped his own cause by finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI. Brad Brach took the loss as he allowed three unearned runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning.
Kyle Freeland (10-7, 3.02 ERA) will start today for the Rockies, while Sean Newcomb (10-5, 3.40) gets the call for Atlanta.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 8-1 in their last nine Friday games. Colorado is 7-1 in Freeland’s last eight starts.
Atlanta
The Braves are 5-12 in their last 17 Friday games. Atlanta is 2-7 in its last nine home games versus the Rockies.
Prediction:
Freeland has been a consistently strong starter for Colorado all season and can always benefit from pitching away from Coors Field. Newcomb had a strong first half this season and had his near-no-hitter a few weeks ago, but he is still prone to falling out of form every once in a while. I think the value is good on betting the Rockies to win another road game today, this time as underdogs.
