Gonzalez homer powers Tribe
A three-run home run by Carlos Gonzalez helped lead Cleveland to a 7-4 victory Tuesday night at Miami. Gonzalez broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the third inning with the home run and Cleveland rolled from there. Gonzalez finished the contest 1-for-3 with the homer, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. Carlos Santana ended the game 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Trevor Bauer picked up the win as he allowed four earned runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks over seven innings of work. Brad Hand threw a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout for his ninth save. Corey Kluber draws the start today for the Indians and enters with a 2-2 record, 5.81 ERA, 1.68 WHIP plus 35 strikeouts over 31 innings.
Alcantara struggles in defeat
Miami lost by a count of 7-4 Tuesday night at home versus Cleveland to drop to 8-21 overall and 5-12 at home. The Marlins led 3-2 through two innings before allowing four runs in the third inning and could not recover. Curtis Granderson helped lead the Miami offense as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Martin Prado was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Brian Anderson finished 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Sandy Alcantara took the loss as he surrendered six runs (four earned) on seven hits with one strikeout and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 6-2 in their last eight road games. Cleveland is 7-3 in its last 10 interleague games.
Miami
The Marlins are 25-58 in their last 83 games overall. Miami is 0-4 in its last four interleague games versus right-handed starters.
Prediction:
Cleveland’s offense has been shaky this season and Smith has been phenomenal so far, which leads me to believe he’ll baffle the Indians here. Kluber has struggled and while the Marlins have a poor offense, they likely won’t have to score much today to get the job done. I’m taking a shot on the home team here as Cleveland is as inconsistent as it comes.
