Indians fall in Baltimore
Cleveland is coming off a surprising series loss on the road to the Orioles, suffering two 13-0 losses in Baltimore. The Indians are 45-38 on the season, 20-20 on the road and 46-35 with the under. Trevor Bauer is getting the start for Cleveland today. He is 6-6 on the year with a 3.55 ERA.
The Tribe haven’t found their footing at the plate this year, averaging just 4.30 runs per game while posting a .238 average. On the mound, Cleveland has a 4.04 team ERA with a 1.24 team WHIP. Carlos Santana has been the team leader this year with 15 doubles, 18 home runs and 50 RBI while Jose Ramirez has 14 doubles, 30 RBI and 18 stolen bases.
Royals struggling
Kansas City is coming off a series loss at Toronto and the Royals are just 3-6 in their last nine games, which included two losses to the Tribe in Cleveland. KC is now 29-56 on the season, 16-25 at home and 42-38 with the over. The Royals have Jakob Junis getting the start tonight. He is 4-7 on the year with a 5.23 ERA.
The Royals rank near the bottom of the league in both hitting and pitching this season. On the mound, KC has a 5.07 team ERA with a 1.45 team WHIP. At the plate, the Royals average 4.28 runs per game while hitting .245. Jorge Soler is leading the team at the plate with 17 doubles, 22 home runs and 56 RBI while Alex Gordon has 21 doubles, 10 home runs and 52 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 8-1 in their last nine division games and 6-2 in their last eight series openers.
Kansas City
The Royals are 9-21 in their last 30 games against a right-handed starter and 25-51 in their last 76 games on grass.
Prediction:
The Royals got beat up by the lowly Blue Jays on Monday and then had to travel home for this series. Junis gets the start and he has been struggling most of the year. He gave up four runs in six innings at Cleveland last week. Bauer has been stronger, but still has the occasional bad outing. He looked good against KC last week, allowing just one run in 6.2 innings with 12 strikeouts. I think he takes advantage of a tired KC lineup today while the Indians are able to beat up on Junis.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -185
