Who takes Reds-Brewers division clash?
Cincinnati’s in the midst of an epic losing streak. That means Milwaukee assumes a completely foreign role: favorite.
The National League Central Division’s two bottom-feeders meet in this afternoon’s second of a three-game set, with a 4:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Miller Park. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI give the Brewers odds of -140 to handle their business at home. The Reds, conversely, represent +125 underdogs.
Bryan Price’s club (15-33) last won a contest on May 16. While a few offensive bright spots peek through the darkness occasionally, a dreadful staff ensures overriding bleakness. Alfredo Simon (1-5, 10.16 ERA) is no different. Most recently, the veteran yielded five runs on nine base knocks in five innings of a defeat to Seattle. His lone outing of six-plus frames occurred at the beginning of the month.
On the other side, Chase Anderson (2-6, 5.33) continues to be haunted by the gopher ball. The righty’s 12 homers surrendered should entice Jay Bruce, Joey Votto and the rest of Cincy’s crew to rise to the occasion here. Anderson’s lone gem in a sea of rocky appearances came several weeks ago, when he flirted with a no-hitter vs. the Cubs.

Milwaukee (22-26) could well send Cincinnati to a 12th straight L, but the hurlers in question basically guarantee a free-for-all with the lumber. Expect a high-scoring, thoroughly entertaining affair that’ll probably hinge on which beleaguered bullpen commits fewer mistakes.
