White Sox split at Cleveland
The Chicago White Sox are coming off a 4-game series split at Cleveland this week, but the Sox dropped the last two games in the series. They are just 2-5 in their last seven. Chicago is 16-20 on the season, 8-10 on the road and 20-15 with the over. Dylan Covey takes the mound for Chicago tonight. He is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
Chicago has struggled on the mound this season. They rank 29th in team ERA (5.43) and last in team WHIP (1.57). At the plate, the White Sox are averaging 4.64 runs per game while hitting .255 as a team. Jose Abreu has been leading the team with 10 doubles, nine home runs and 34 RBI while Yoan Moncada has eight doubles, seven home runs and 25 RBI.
Blue Jays silenced by Twins
Toronto had a horrible three-game series at home with Minnesota this week, as they lost all three games by a combined score of 20-1. The Jays have lost eight of their last nine. Toronto is now 15-22 on the season, 7-11 at home and 22-15 with the under. Clay Buchholz gets the start for Toronto. He is 0-2 this season with a 6.57 ERA.
The Jays are one of the worst hitting teams in the league. They are averaging 3.62 runs per game while hitting .221 as a squad. On the mound, Toronto has a pretty solid 3.86 team ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Justin Smoak is leading the team with five home runs and 19 RBI while Rowdy Tellez has six home runs and 18 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are just 2-16 in Covey’s last 18 road starts and 6-22 in his last 28 overall starts.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games, but just 0-5 in their last five games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Covey hasn’t been much on the mound this season, logging just six innings while giving up three earned runs. However, he faces a really poor Toronto lineup that has been in a complete funk lately. Buchholz has given up at least three runs in each of his last four starts, including seven at Texas in his last outing. Chicago has some big bats that can put up runs. The Jays just haven’t been able to score lately and I don’t trust a team that has only one run over its last three games.
MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox +100
