Cubs vs. Brewers Prediction
A battle for the top spot in the NL Central begins tonight as the first-place Milwaukee Brewers host the Chicago Cubs, who are only a half-game behind. Will Chicago win the opener and take over first place for at least a day?

Cubs bats go silent vs. Pirates
Chicago was held to one run on four hits Sunday afternoon in a 7-1 home loss against Pittsburgh. Jason Heyward had two of the hits as he went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Anthony Rizzo was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Kye Hendricks allowed one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks over five innings to take the loss.
Brewers unable to complete sweep
Milwaukee won the first two games of its weekend series at Philadelphia, but dropped the finale Sunday by a count of 4-3. Lorenzo Cain was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI to help pace the offense. Christian Yelich went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Ryan Braun finished 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Dan Jennings took the loss in relief as he allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits with one strikeout and two walks over two innings.
Jose Quintana (6-4, 4.20 ERA) draws the start for the Cubs today, while the Brewers are going with Junior Guerra (3-4, 2.83).
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Chicago is 36-15 in its last 51 Monday games.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 16-5 in their last 21 home games. The under is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings.
Prediction:
Chicago’s bats were cold in the finale against the Pirates Sunday and now it will face a pitcher having a strong year in Guerra. Milwaukee has had a fine season and this is a series it can use to get some separation as the first-place team. The Brewers certainly won’t take this game lightly and their fans will be rocking. I’m going to take the hosts as a small underdog tonight.
