The pitching matchup for today has Joe Musgrove (2-3, 5.02 ERA) on the mound for the Astros to face Dan Straily (1-3, 4.03) of the Marlins. Straily is coming off a solid 7-inning outing, where he allowed just one run and three hits. He has 37 strikeouts and 18 walks this season with a 1.08 WHIP. Musgrove has yet to get to the seventh inning this season. He has allowed 21 earned runs in 37.2 innings of work and his WHIP is 1.38.
Houston remains hot, taking three of four from the Yankees this weekend. The Astros are now 26-12 overall and 12-6 on the road. Houston is putting up 4.97 runs per game while allowing just 3.84. Carlos Correa is hitting .294 this season with five home runs, 10 doubles and 22 RBI. Jose Altuve is batting .286 with five homers, 15 RBI and nine stolen bases.
Miami ended a five-game losing streak, all at home, on Sunday with a 3-1 win over the Braves. The Marlins is now 14-22 overall and 6-11 at home. They are putting up 4.36 runs per game while allowing 4.83. Marcell Ozuna is leading the team with a .316 average, 11 home runs and 29 RBI. Giancarlo Stanton has also launched 11 home runs and has 26 RBI.
The Astros are proving to be one of the top teams in the American League through the first quarter of the season. Their hitting is coming through and their pitching has been stellar. While the Marlins can put up runs, their pitching has been less than reliable. I can see the Marlins getting to Musgrove, but I definitely think Houston will get to Straily. Look for the Astros to get another road victory.
