Red Sox even up series
Boston overcame a two-run deficit with a three-run third inning Sunday night en route to a 7-5 victory in Game 2 of the ALCS. Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, two runs and an RBI to help lead the way. Xander Bogaerts finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Steve Pearce finished 1-for-3 with a double plus a walk and a run. Rafael Devers ended the game 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI. Jackie Bradley Jr. was 1-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. Matt Barnes picked up the win in relief as he struck out one in 1 1/3 spotless innings of relief.
Gonzalez homers in defeat
George Springer finished 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs in the Game 2 loss at Boston. Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Alex Bregman walked three times in five plate appearances. Marwin Gonzalez completed the contest 1-for-4 with a 2-run home run. Gerrit Cole took the loss as he allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks over six innings of work.
Nathan Eovaldi (6-7, 3.81 ERA) draws the start today for the Red Sox, while Dallas Keuchel (12-11, 3.74) will go for the Astros.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The over is 13-3-1 in the last 17 Red Sox games on grass. The over is 6-2 in the last eight Boston games following a win.
Houston
Houston is 13-3 in its last 16 home games. The Astros are 19-7 in their last 26 playoff home games.
Prediction:
The Red Sox will hope Eovaldi continues his recent strong form here and gives Houston a different look than it got from Chris Sale and David Price. Keuchel will keep the ball in the yard for the most part, but Boston is fantastic at making contact and should find space in the field to spray the ball around with its talented offense. I like Boston as the small dog here riding the hotter pitcher in this matchup.
