Betts returns from DL
Boston outfielder Mookie Betts returned to action Monday night after missing 14 games with an injury, helping his squad to a 2-0 victory in 12 innings. He only went 1-for-5 with a single as the Red Sox only managed six hits in 12 innings. Betts is now batting .354 on the season with a .431 on-base percentage and .735 slugging percentage. Brock Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. hit back-to-back run-scoring sacrifice flies in the top of the 12th inning to break the scoreless tie. Andrew Benintendi went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and a stolen base to pace the offense. Xander Bogaerts was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run. Rafael Devers doubled and scored the other run in the 12th. Heath Hembree struck out the side in the 11th to earn the win, while Craig Kimbrel struck out three and worked around a walk to earn his 21st save.
Orioles squander Bundy start
Baltimore starting pitcher Dylan Bundy was fantastic Monday as he threw eight scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out seven and walking two. He lowered his ERA to 3.66. Mychal Givens took the loss in relief as he surrendered two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk over 1 1/3 innings. Adam Jones went 2-for-5 with a walk to pace the O’s offense. Manny Machado missed the game with an illness and is questionable to play tonight.
Eduardo Rodriguez (7-1, 3.68 ERA) will start tonight for the Red Sox, while David Hess (2-2, 3.07) takes the hill for the Orioles.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 36-15 in their last 51 Tuesday games. Boston is 21-10 in its last 31 road games.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 34-64 in their last 87 games overall. Baltimore is 10-25 in its last 35 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
I strongly doubt the Red Sox offense gets held down again, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rodriguez has a stellar outing against a struggling Baltimore offense especially if Machado misses another game. I don’t expect this game to be as tightly contested as Monday’s tilt. Bet on Boston to win again.
