Red Sox Season Odds
With most of their ’08 ALCS roster coming back, it’s no wonder why oddsmakers have established the odds for the Boston Red Sox winning the 2009 World Series at 11/2.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Red Sox 11/2 favorites (along with the Yankees) to win the 2009 World Series. Oddsmakers have also established Boston’s American League Pennant odds at 3/1.
The Red Sox didn’t make a ton of moves this offseason but they did add veteran pitchers John Smoltz and Brad Penny, as well as added veteran reliever Takashi Saito to join Jonathan Papelbon, who is one of baseball’s best closers, in the bullpen.
Boston’s lineup is stacked from top to bottom and features the reining MVP in Dustin Pedroia. Throw in David Ortiz, Mike Lowell, Kevin Youkilis and Jason Bay and you have the makings of one of the best orders in MLB. The rotation is solid as well, with outstanding ace Josh Beckett leading the way and being followed by Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jon Lester.
The Red Sox play in the toughest divisions in baseball, one that also features the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. But as long as they stay healthy, Boston should once again find themselves in the postseason and there’s a very good chance that they’ll be playing in October come season’s end.
