Braves vs. Phillies Prediction
The Atlanta Braves rallied from five down in the ninth inning Sunday afternoon at home versus Miami. Will Atlanta have a letdown after the exciting win tonight as it travels to Philadelphia to open a series with the Phillies?

Swanson caps huge rally
Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson hit a two-run line drive single down the left field line Sunday afternoon to send the hosts to an improbable 10-9 victory. Atlanta trailed 6-0 after starter Julio Teheran allowed six earned runs in the fourth inning. The Braves did little to chip away at it in the ensuing innings, still trailing 9-4 heading to the bottom of the ninth inning. But the Braves strung five hits and three walks together in the last at-bat with Swanson winning it with two outs and down to his last strike. Atlanta had 12 hits in the contest, all singles. Freddie Freeman was 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Ozzie Albies finished 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs. Nick Markakis was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. A.J. Minter picked up the win in relief. The first-place Braves are now 28-17.
Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 2.87 ERA) will start today for Atlanta.
Phillies drop series finale at Cardinals
Philadelphia managed only two hits Sunday afternoon as it lost 5-1 in the series finale at St. Louis. Aaron Nola suffered the loss as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six innings. The lone run by the Phillies was produced by a Rhys Hoskins solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, which gave Philadelphia a brief 1-0 advantage before the Cardinals scored two runs in the bottom half. Aaron Altherr had the only other hit for the Phillies as he went 1-for-3 with a single.
Nick Pivetta (3-2, 3.72 ERA) draws the start today for Philadelphia.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 13-3 in their last 16 road games. Atlanta is 9-3 in its last 12 games overall.
Philadelphia
The under is 6-2 in the last eight Phillies games. Philadelphia is 4-10 in the last 14 meetings with Atlanta.
Prediction:
Teams often have a letdown after a huge win the day before, which Atlanta qualifies for since it had no business winning yesterday’s game with a five-run ninth inning deficit. Philadelphia is fighting for the top spot in the NL East in the latter portion of May and Pivetta has been solid as of late. I like the hosts here to secure a win to get this series rolling.
