Braves’ Teheran blanks Diamondbacks over six-plus innings
Julio Teheran pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Teheran allowed just four hits against the Arizona lineup, and while he did walk three, he was able to fan six and keep anything from crossing the plate. It’s been a bit of a mixed first-half for the right-hander, but when Teheran has been on, he’s been excellent. He’ll take a 4.00 ERA into his first start after the All-Star break, but that start has yet to be announced as Atlanta hasn’t set their second-half rotation just yet.
Marlins’ Chen allows one run in loss to Phillies
Wei-Yin Chen suffered a tough-luck loss after limiting the Phillies to one run in six innings on Friday. The only run came courtesy of an RBI double from Aaron Altherr in the second inning, but it was enough to put Chen in line for the loss. The southpaw gave up just five hits in all while walking one and striking out a season-high eight batters. It was a solid bounceback outing after he was knocked around for seven runs by the Nationals in his last start. Chen will finish off the first half with a 5.75 ERA over 15 starts.
