Jesus Luzardo will start for the Athletics in ALDS Game 3 on Wednesday against the Astros. The other option for manager Bob Melvin would have been Frankie Montas, as Chris Bassitt worked Game 1 on Monday and Sean Manaea handled Game 2 on Tuesday afternoon. Oakland lost both of those tilts and will try to rally around Luzardo to force the best-of-five series to a Game 4 on Thursday. The 23-year-old left-hander registered a 4.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 59/17 K/BB ratio over 59 innings during the 2020 regular season.

George Springer hit a pair of homers to drive in three runs Tuesday in the victory over the A’s. The homers were the 16th and 17th of Springer’s 54-game postseason career, putting him into a tie with Nelson Cruz, David Ortiz and Jim Thome for seventh place on the all-time list. Reggie Jackson and Mickey Mantle are next up at 18. Springer went just 1-for-9 in the AL Wild Card Series sweep of the Twins last week, but he’s 6-for-9 with three extra-base hits so far against the A’s.
A’s vs. Astros Game 3 Betting Prediction
Why bet against the Astros now? They’re on a f**k you tour after they were caught cheating and the A’s look finished. In fact, Oakland is now 2-8 in its last 10 postseason games, is 1-4 in its last five games versus a right0handed starter and is winless in its last four Divisional round games. The Astros, meanwhile, are 4-0 in their last four games overall, are 4-0 in their last four games versus a team with a winning record and are 9-2 in their last 11 divisional round playoff games.
