Tigers vs. Rangers Game 1 Odds

Detroit comes into this game after taking three of five against the Yankees in the ALDS. They lost Game 1 9-3 in New York before bouncing back with a 5-3 road win in Game 2. The Tigers then took a 2-1 series lead with a 5-4 win in Game 3 before dropping Game 4, 10-1. They finished off the Yankees on Thursday night with a 3-2 win in the Bronx to reach the ACLS.
The Rangers rebounded from a brutal 9-0 loss in Game 1 against the Rays in the ALDS to finish off Tampa Bay in four games. They beat the Rays 8-6 in Game 2, then went on the road and won Games 3 and Games 4 by a 4-3 score, respectively. The over hit in both of the Rangers’ home games in that series while the under covered when the series shifted for Tampa Bay for two games.
Oddsmakers have installed the Tigers as –113 money line favorites over the host Rangers (+106) for Game 1 tonight, while the over/under total has been set at 7.5 runs. The pitching matchup will feature two aces, as Detroit will send No. 1 Justin Verlander to the mound against Texas’ C.J. Wilson. Verlander picked up a win against the Yankees after allowing four runs on six hits through eight innings in Game 3, while Wilson was shelled for eight runs in that ugly 9-0 loss to the Rays in Game 1.
According to latest MLB trends, the Tigers are 6-1 in Verlander’s last seven starts against the Rangers and 6-2 in their last eight games against Texas overall. The over is also 13-4-4 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams in Texas.
