Athletics vs. Angels Prediction
The Oakland Athletics still have an outside shot at hosting the AL Wild Card Game, but currently trail the New York Yankees by two games. Can Oakland pick up the win tonight as it begins a series at the AL West foe Los Angeles Angels?

A’s take two of three at Mariners
Oakland won 9-3 Wednesday night to take two out of three games in its series at Seattle. Nick Martini went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI from the leadoff spot. Marcus Semien was 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Khris Davis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Matt Olson finished 1-for-5 with a grand slam homer. Chad Pinder ended the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Ryan Buchter picked up the win in relief as he struck out two and a walk in an inning of work.
Angels finish home sweep over Rangers
Los Angeles earned a 3-2 victory Wednesday night as Shohei Ohtani hit a tie-breaking home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ohtani finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Mike Trout was 0-for-2 with two walks. Jose Briceno went 1-for-2 with a walk. Taylor Ward finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Jose Alvarez threw a spotless inning of relief to get the win. Jim Johnson earned his second save as he struck out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Mike Fiers (12-7, 3.31 ERA) will take the mound for the Athletics tonight, while the Angels are going with Jaime Barria (10-9, 3.54).
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The over is 19-7 in the last 26 A’s games overall. Oakland is 61-25 in its last 86 games on grass.
Los Angeles
The under is 11-3 in the last 14 Angels games on Fridays. The over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings.
Prediction:
In the last two games of the series at Oakland earlier this month, the A’s outscored their counterparts by a combined 31-3. That has to stick in the craw of Los Angeles a bit. The Angels have had a mediocre season, but they are 40-38 at home and are pitching well lately. Barria has had a strong season and his opposition in Fiers is a fly ball pitcher. I’m going to predict LA hits multiple homers and secures a fourth straight win.
