Indians pull away from Phillies

Cleveland rolled to a 10-1 home win Sunday night over Philadelphia to improve to 92-64 overall and 40-32 at home. Oscar Mercado helped lead the Indians offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs. Franmil Reyes was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Yasiel Puig went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and three RBIs. Carlos Santana ended the contest 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Carlos Carrasco picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with three strikeouts and no walks over 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Mike Clevinger gets the start tonight for Cleveland as he enters with a 12-3 record, 2.54 ERA and 1.04 WHIP plus 155 strikeouts over 113 1/3 innings pitched.

White Sox doubled up at Tigers

Chicago lost by a count of 6-3 Sunday afternoon at Detroit to drop to 68-87 overall and 33-48 on the road. Eloy Jimenez ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to lead the White Sox offense. Yoan Moncada was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Adam Engel finished 2-for-4 with a double. Reynaldo Lopez took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Hector Santiago starts tonight for Chicago as he comes in with a 1-1 record, 5.65 ERA and 1.81 WHIP plus 29 strikeouts over 28 2/3 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

The Indians are 4-0 in their last four road games. Cleveland is 7-0 in the last seven road starts.

The White Sox are 8-17 in their last 25 games overall. Chicago is 2-7 in its last nine home games.

This is one heck of a pitching mismatch. Clevinger mows down right-handed and left-handed hitters fairly equally, while Santiago has a good strikeout rate but that is about all going well for him. It's a small sample size this season for Santiago, but his MLB history shows mostly mediocrity. Look for another gem of a Clevinger start coupled with plenty of run support. Go with the Indians on the runline when the line is released.
