Cubs vs. Brewers Pick
Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have listed the Cubs as a -130 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Brewers are a +110 underdog and the over-under is set at 9.
Chicago will go with Jose Quintana (10-11, 4.27 ERA) on the mound, while Milwaukee turns to Chase Anderson (11-3, 2.74). Quintana has a 1.26 WHIP with 192 strikeouts over 175 innings. He allowed three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in 5 2/3 innings in a 4-3 home win over the Cardinals his last outing. Quintana has a 3.79 ERA in 15 road starts. Anderson enters with a 1.11 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 128 innings. He gave up five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks in six shutout innings in a 1-0 win at the Pirates his last start. Anderson has a 2.34 ERA in 10 home starts.
Chicago is 86-68 on the season and 40-36 away from home, while Milwaukee is 82-73 and 42-35 at home. The Brewers have won six of the last 10 meetings and the total has gone under eight times including the last four.
The Brewers stunned the Cubs 4-3 in 10 innings Saturday as Travis Shaw hit a two-run walk-off home run off losing pitcher Wade Davis. Shaw ended the game 2-for-4 with a walk. Ryan Braun went 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Brett Phillips went 3-for-4, while Orlando Arcia added a solo home run. Jeremy Jeffress picked up the win in relief. Jon Jay was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cubs. Ian Happ went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI.
Milwaukee is only a game behind Colorado for the second NL Wild Card spot, so now is not the time to take the foot off the gas. Anderson has been excellent when healthy this year, while the Brewers offense is set up well to match Quintana with plenty of power bats from the right side. Let's roll with the home team.
