Cubs shut out in finale at D-backs

After cruising to a pair of wins in the first two games at Arizona, the Cubs fell 9-0 in Wednesday's series finale. Chicago only had one hit in the contest as Addison Russell was 1-for-2 and also drew a walk. Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and David Bote were all 0-for-2 with a walk. Cole Hamels took the loss as he was shelled for seven earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and no walks over six innings.

White Sox snap three-game skid

The White Sox earned a 5-4 win at Cleveland yesterday to end their three-game losing streak. Yoan Moncada helped pace the offense from the leadoff spot as he was 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Yolmer Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Avisail Garcia was 1-for-4 with two walks and an RBI. Omar Narvaez finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Matt Davidson ended the contest 2-for-6 with an RBI. Adam Engel was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Hector Santiago threw three scoreless innings of relief for the win as he gave up two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Jose Quintana (13-10, 3.95 ERA) will start today for the Cubs, while the White Sox turn to Rodrigo Lopez (6-9, 4.05).

MLB Betting Trends

The under is 8-2 in the last 10 Cubs games on grass. The over is 7-2 in the last nine Cubs road games.

White Sox

The White Sox are 9-25 in their last 34 interleague games. The under is 6-2-2 in the last 10 White Sox games overall.

Quintana has pitched better as of late and gets a matchup against a soft-hitting White Sox squad, his former team, today, He'll be focused for the matchup and should continue his recent success. Lopez has also pitched well of late, but this is a tough matchup and I wouldn't expect him to pitch shutdown baseball before giving way to the bullpen. Look for the Cubs to win today after coming off a rest day.
