Kendrick guides Nats to win

Washington earned a 6-2 win Tuesday night at St. Louis Tuesday night to improve to 83-67 overall and 41-36 on the road. Howie Kendrick led the way offensively for the Nationals as he was 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple, a walk and two runs scored. Yan Gomes went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI. Victor Robles finished 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Patrick Corbin picked up the win as he gave up two unearned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and four walks over six innings. Daniel Hudson recorded the save as he allowed one hit and two strikeouts over two innings of scoreless relief. Max Scherzer draws the start tonight for Washington as he comes in with a 10-6 record, 2.65 ERA and 1.03 WHIP plus 222 strikeouts across 159 2/3 innings pitched.

Goldschmidt reaches base three times

St. Louis lost 6-2 at home Tuesday night against Washington to drop to 84-67 overall and 48-29 at home. Paul Goldschmidt helped lead the Cardinals offense as he finished 1-for-2 with a double plus two walks. Yadier Molina went 2-for-4 with a double. Tommy Edman ended the game 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Miles Mikolas took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Adam Wainwright will start tonight as he enters with a 12-9 record, 4.00 ERA and 1.38 WHIP plus 141 strikeouts over 155 1/3 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

The Nationals are 14-3 in their last 17 games versus the NL Central. Washington is 11-2 in the last 13 Scherzer starts.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 19-8 in their last 27 home games. St. Louis is 0-4 in its last four Wednesday games.

Washington sends its best pitcher to the mound today to attempt to win the series and help solidify its NL Wild Card standing. Wainwright is having an up-and-down season and I think this is a great getaway day spot for the Nationals to get to him enough to support their starter.
