Dodgers vs. Cardinals Prediction
The Los Angeles Dodgers were expected to win the NL West this season, but still trail by 1.5 games in mid-September. Can Los Angeles gain any ground this weekend as it continues its four-game series at the St. Louis Cardinals tonight?

Dodgers led by Machado in win
Chris Taylor finished 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI in yesterday’s 9-7 win to open the Dodgers’ series at St. Louis. Manny Machado completed the game 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs. David Freese went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Matt Kemp was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Enrique Hernandez and Austin Barnes both went 2-for-3 with a run. Clayton Kershaw picked up the win as he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Gomber hit hard
Austin Gomber suffered the first loss of his MLB career Thursday as he was shelled for seven earned runs on nine hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Matt Carpenter ended the game 2-for-5 with two runs. Marcell Ozuna finished 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Paul DeJong went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Tyson Ross contributed a solo home run after entering the game in relief.
Walker Buehler (6-5, 3.09 ERA) will start today for the Dodgers, while the Cardinals are going with Jack Flaherty (8-6, 2.92).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 7-3 in their last 10 road games. Los Angeles is 35-16 in its last 51 Friday games.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 23-11 in their last 34 games overall. The under is 35-17 in the last 52 meetings.
Prediction:
Both of these starting pitchers have posted very strong seasons, but with Los Angeles being inconsistent it’s difficult to see it winning a second straight game against a good road team. St. Louis is in the thick of the NL Wild Card race and will ride Flaherty to a win today in my opinion.
