Rockies vs. Padres MLB Prediction
National League West rivals square off on Tuesday night when the Padres host the Rockies at 9:10 p.m. ET. With Chi Chi Gonzalez set to oppose Mike Clevinger in the pitching matchup, is there an angle for bettors to exploit tonight?

Colorado Rockies DFS Spin
Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a double and swiped his league-leading 12th base on Monday as the Rockies fell to the Padres. He’s now one ahead of Royals’ speedster Adalberto Mondesi for the Major League lead in stolen bases — and four clear of Jon Berti for the lead in the National League. He also tallied two of just seven total hits for the Rockies in this one — including their only hit that went for extra bases. Fantasy players have to be pleased with the monster five-category returns from Story this season, as he’s slashing .294/.372/.544 with nine homers, 32 runs scored, 20 RBI and the aforementioned 12 swipes.
San Diego Padres DFS Spin
Eric Hosmer has been diagnosed with a fractured left index finger. Yikes. Hosmer suffered the injury on a misguided decision to attempt to lay down a bunt with two strikes in the first inning Monday night against the Rockies. The pitch struck his left hand on what was ruled a strikeout on a foul bunt. And now he’s likely done for the remainder of the 2020 regular season — and possibly the playoffs. Trade acquisition Mitch Moreland figures to do most of the filling in at first base down the stretch for San Diego.
Rockies vs. Padres Betting Prediction
These two clubs combined for a whopping one run in their Labor Day matchup but both should bring their bats tonight. Clevinger was solid in his Padres debut, pitching six innings of two-run ball while allowing seven hits in a loss to the Angels but he hasn’t been as dominant in 2020 as he has been in years prior with the Indians. Gonzalez, meanwhile, owns a 5.00 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP over nine innings and one start this season. In that one start, Gonzalez surrendered three runs on five hits including two home runs over just three innings versus the Giants on August 3. Even without Hosmer, the Padres should do more damage versus Gonzalez than they did Kyle Freeland and Colorado’s bullpen last night. The over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and that’s what I’m rolling with tonight.
