Minor shines in shutout effort
Mike Minor threw 7 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to get the win Monday as Texas downed host New York by a count of 7-0. Minor gave up five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in the commanding start. Shin-Soo Choo helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double. Delino DeShields was 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Jose Trevino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Ariel Jurado gets the start tonight for the Rangers as he enters with a 7-10 record, 5.19 ERA and 1.45 WHIP plus 75 strikeouts over 112 2/3 innings.
Yankees suffer rare shutout
New York was shut out for the first time since June of 2018, the second-longest streak in MLB history, as it fell 7-0 at home Monday against Texas. Masahiro Tanaka took the loss on the mound as he gave up two earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Mike Tauchman paced the offense as he ended the game 2-for-3. Gary Sanchez and Luke Voit were both 1-for-4 with a double. James Paxton draws the start for New York as he comes in with an 11-6 record, 4.39 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 156 strikeouts over 125 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rangers are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. Texas is 0-5 in the last five Jurado starts.
The Yankees are 6-0 in the last six Paxton starts. New York is 49-22 in its last 71 games overall.
Don't expect the Yankees to get shut out or even slowed down at home again today. With Paxton pitching great lately and the offense looking to get the bad taste out of its collective mouth against an inferior pitcher, this looks like a good time to bet on New York.
