Betts, Martinez lead Boston to win
Mookie Betts finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs from the leadoff spot last night in a 9-4 victory at Chicago. J.D. Martinez was 1-for-5 with a 3-run home run as part of a five-run ninth inning that broke a 4-4 tie. Ian Kinsler finished 3-for-4 with two runs. Blake Swihart went 1-for-1 with a walk, two runs and an RBI off the bench. Jackie Bradley Jr. went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Ryan Brasier earned the win in relief as he struck out one in a perfect inning of work.
Sanchez has three-hit night
Yolmer Sanchez went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and a run in yesterday’s home loss against Boston. Nicky Delmonico finished 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run. Avisail Garcia ended the night 1-for-3 with a 3-run homer. Yoan Moncada was 1-for-3 with a walk, while Matt Davidson was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Thyago Vieira suffered the loss in relief as he allowed five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Nathan Eovaldi (5-6, 4.15 ERA) will start tonight for the Red Sox, while the White Sox go with rookie Michael Kopech (1-0, 1.13).
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 42-15 in their last 57 games overall. Boston is 8-2 in its last 10 games overall.
Chicago
The over is 16-5-1 in the last 22 White Sox games on Fridays. Chicago is 5-11 in its last 16 home games.
Prediction:
Boston is the much better team here, but it hasn’t seen Kopech yet as the former Red Sox top prospect is getting his first taste of the big leagues and looked sharp so far. Boston nearly lost last night before its big ninth inning and with an inconsistent pitcher in Eovaldi on the mound, I’m going to take a shot at Chicago recording the upset.
