Calhoun has four-hit night
Los Angeles lost by a score of 5-4 Friday night at Houston to drop to 63-68 overall and 30-37 on the road. Kole Calhoun led the Angels offense as he was a perfect 4-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored. Albert Pujols finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while David Fletcher went 2-for-5. Jose Suarez took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 4 2/3 innings pitched. Dillon Peters draws the start tonight for LA as he enters with a 3-1 record, 3.92 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 36 strikeouts over 41 1/3 innings of work.
Gurriel helps power Astros to win
Houston posted a 5-4 home victory Friday night over Los Angeles to improve to 83-47 overall and 47-16 at home. Yuli Gurriel helped pace the Astros offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Jake Marisnick ended the contest 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Zack Greinke picked up the win as he gave up three runs (two earned) on 10 hits with one strikeout and no walks over 6 2/3 innings pitched. Wade Miley draws the start tonight for Houston as he comes in with a 12-4 record, 3.18 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 125 strikeouts over 147 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five road games. Los Angeles is 2-6 in its last eight games versus a left-handed starter.
Houston
The Astros are 37-14 in their last 51 Saturday games. Houston is 9-2 in the last 11 Miley home starts.
Prediction:
It’s really difficult to find reason to bet against Houston at home on most nights. While the lines are often bloated and historic upsets can happen such as earlier this week when the Astros lost at home to Detroit, more often than not the Astros put themselves in a good position to win at Minute Maid Park. Miley is having an efficient season and he should get run support as Peters has allowed a lot of baserunners this season. The runline is a possibility, but I’m at least taking the hosts on the moneyline.
