Harvey pitches well, Reds cruise
After a walk-off win in the series opener, Cincinnati needed no heroics Saturday night as it easily won 7-1 as underdogs. Matt Harvey threw 6 1/3 shutout innings as he gave up four hits while striking out five and walking one. Jose Peraza helped pace the offense as he was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double and two runs. Scooter Gennett went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs. Eugenio Suarez finished 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Dilson Herrera was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Brandon Dixon went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Longoria drives in lone run
Evan Longoria finished 1-for-4 and had the only RBI in yesterday’s defeat, while Andrew McCutchen was 1-for-4 with a run. Joe Panik and Alen Hanson were both 2-for-4. Madison Bumgarner suffered the loss as he allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Andrew Suarez (4-8, 4.40 ERA) draws the start today for the Giants, while Jose Castillo (6-10, 5.04) goes for the Reds.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 14-3 in their last 17 Sunday games. San Francisco is 0-5 in their last five during game three of a series.
Cincinnati
The Reds are 5-0 in their last five home games versus a team with a losing record. Cincinnati is 1-5 in its last six Sunday games.
Prediction:
The Reds looked sharp yesterday and now face a much more hittable lefty in the series finale. And while Castillo has had a disappointing sophomore season, he’s still occasionally flashed why he is thought of as a cornerstone pitcher of Cincinnati’s future. I like the Reds to complete the sweep today as a small favorite.
