Ozuna hits 450-foot homer
Marcell Ozuna helped lead the Cardinals to a 7-2 victory Saturday night as he hit a tape-measure solo home run. He finished the game 1-for-2 with the home run, two walks and two runs. Paul DeJong went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Harrison Bader finished 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Miles Mikolas earned the win as he allowed one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over six innings.
Shaw, Yelich hit solo home runs
Travis Shaw and Christian Yelich both went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday to pace the Brewers in their loss. Wade Miley suffered the loss as he surrendered four runs (one earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings.
Jhoulys Chacin (12-4, 3.73 ERA) draws the start today for Milwaukee, while St. Louis will go with John Gant (5-4, 3.74).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The over is 9-0 in the last nine Brewers games on Sundays. Milwaukee is 5-16 in its last 21 Sunday games.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 7-1 in their last eight home games. St. Louis is 17-5 in its last 22 games overall.
Prediction:
Both Chacin and Gant were strong in their last start, with Chacin being particularly effective as he struck out 10 in seven innings at the Cubs. But with Chacin being inconsistent and St. Louis playing such strong baseball as of late, I’m going to bet on him faltering today and the Cardinals recording the sweep to keep their outstanding month of August rolling.
