Twins take first two
Minnesota has won the first two games in this series. The Twins got a 13-6 win on Thursday and then a 4-3 win last night. Minnesota is 74-48 overall, 38-22 on the road and 62-53 with the over. Jose Berrios gets the start tonight. He is 10-6 on the season with a 3.29 ERA.
The Twins put up a pair of runs in the seventh inning to push past the Rangers. Jonathan Schoop had a two-run home run to give Minnesota the victory. Miguel Gonzales finished with three hits while Max Kepler drove in a pair of runs on his 33rd home run. Jake Odorizzi got the start and allowed just three runs over 5.2 innings. Sam Dyson got the win in relief while Sergio Romo got his third save of the season.
Rangers can’t get on track
Texas has lost eight of its last 10 games following the 4-3 loss to the Twins last night. The Rangers are 60-62 overall, 35-24 at home and 62-56 with the under. Ariel Jurado gets the start for the Rangers this evening. He is 6-8 on the season with a 5.31 ERA.
Mike Minor took the loss on the mound for Texas on Friday. He threw seven innings and gave up four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. At the plate, the Rangers had nine hits. Nomar Mazara had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs while Willie Calhoun added two hits and scored a run.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 6-2 in their last eight road games and 8-3 in Berrios’ last 11 road starts.
Texas
The Rangers are 5-14 in their last 19 games following a loss and 1-6 in their last seven Saturday games.
Prediction:
Berrios has been one of the top pitchers in Minnesota, but he is coming off a pair of poor outings against the Braves and Indians at home. He has yet to face Texas this season. Jurado is also struggling as of late, giving up eight runs to the Blue Jays in his last start. His numbers actually get worse at home. Jurado has a longer track record of poor outings and Berrios is a pitcher that tends to bounce back well from his bad stretches. I think he can work around this struggling Texas lineup while the Twins beat up on Jurado.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -155
