Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Carlos Correa hit two solo home runs as the Astros lost to the Athletics on Thursday. There was nothing cheap about Correa’s shots, as the first went 437 feet and the second went “just” 417 feet. The second was also Correa’s 100th homer of his career, and his 19th overall this year. The 24-year-old has battled injuries once again but has been a shining light when on the field, hitting .290/.366/.579 with 19 homers, 55 RBI and 38 runs scored in 68 games played.
Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Matt Chapman went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs, including the go-ahead homer in the eighth inning, and three runs scored as the A’s outlasted the Astros 7-6 on Thursday. Chapman hit an absolute bomb in the sixth inning off A’s starter Mike Fiers, driving it roughly 453 feet into the Oakland night, but it was his second a few innings later that proved to be the difference. It’s fitting that the deciding hit was also a homer, as the two teams combined to allow 10 dingers before it was all said and done. The 26-year-old struggled down the stretch in July and into August but seems to have figured some things out lately. Extending his hitting streak to seven games — with four homers in that span — Chapman is now batting .259/.340/.533 with 29 homers, 69 RBI and 77 runs scored across 117 games.
