Blue Jays take firs two
The Blue Jays have won the first two games in this series following a 7-2 win on Friday night. Toronto is now 50-59 overall and 23-31 on the road. The Jays are putting up 4.50 runs per game this year while allowing 5.06 per contest.
Marco Estrada makes the start for Toronto tonight. He is 4-8 through 18 starts and has a 4.90 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. Estrada has pitched a total of 93.2 innings and has 70 strikeouts with 28 walks.
Mariners in a funk
The Mariners have lost four straight after losing the first two in this series and the offense has scored three runs or less in all four losses. Seattle is now 63-47 overall and 35-23 at home. The Mariners are putting up 4.19 runs per game this year while allowing 4.32 per contest on defense.
James Paxton gets the start for Seattle on Saturday. He is 9-4 on the year through 21 starts. Paxton carries a 3.49 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP. Over 126.1 innings of work, Paxton has logged 163 strikeouts with 33 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won five of Estrada’s last six Saturday starts, but they have lost eight of his last 11 starts overall.
Seattle
The Mariners have won five of Paxton’s last six starts against a losing team and five of his last six starts against AL East opponents.
Prediction:
Seattle has been let down at the plate and on the mound in this series. The bullpen hasn’t been on point and the hitters have struggled with average pitchers. Due to their lack of consistent hitting, I can’t bet on them as such a big favorite. Paxton is a great pitcher, but he needs run support and help from his pen. That hasn’t been the story this weekend for Seattle.
The Pick: Toronto Blue Jays +200
